DEAD END DERBY POST BOUT REPORT – Monday 13 July 2015

DED ALLSTARS vs BAY CITY ROLLERS July 10th 2015, Christchurch

The Dead End Derby All Stars had a strong victory at their latest inter-league bout held at Cowles Stadium on Friday July 10th in their debut bout against The Bay City Rollers Iron Maidens who hail from the Hawkes Bay.

The first quarter of the bout saw both teams keeping the score close but Dead End Derby put the pressure on and had a strong lead after the first half DED 143 – BCR 68.

The home fans were treated to some excellent offensive and defensive plays by the Dead End Derby skaters, including apex jumps and solid defensive walls.

During the second half Bay City Rollers struggled against some solid blocking and offensive plays from NZ’s currently ranked #3 team. The final score was DED 296 – BCR 117.

Dead End Derby are looking forward to their final home bout on September 26th with tickets already available from Eventfinder and also starting up their next ‘Freshmeat’ (Learn to Skate) group in October. Fresh from their first international tournament in Australia in June, Christchurch's original Rollergirls Dead End Derby present fun for the whole family in this school holiday interleague bout: Dead End Derby All Stars vs Bay City Rollers to be held on Friday July 10th at Cowles Stadium.

Allstars co­captain and crowd favourite Crash Cookie (Bernice Mckay)had this to say: “Royal Rumble was a big step for the All Stars. We embraced the challenge of playing Australian teams and we're proud of the challenge we gave them on the track...We are bringing back some fresh strategy and enthusiasm for our game in July against Bay City Rollers.”

For the first time these two teams will play one another and Dead End Derby will be skating to win on home turf for just the second time this season at Cowles Stadium against BCR who hail from the Hawkes Bay.

A brilliant school holiday Friday night out for the whole family. Fans are encouraged to come along dressed in green and black to support the home team, DED All Stars.
Dead End Derby are proud to be supporting White Ribbon New Zealand during our 2015 season and will be donating a percentage of our bout profits to this worthwhile cause.

ABOUT ROLLER DERBY

One of the world’s fastest growing sports, Roller Derby is a fast paced and played on an oval track. Five players on each team are on the track at a time for up to two minutes. Jammers, identified with a star on their helmets, try to pass the opposing teams blockers to score points for their team.
