Join the league

DED runs a rolling Skate 101, meaning you keep coming till you pass, however long that may take you (not everyone passes on their first go, so don't feel discouraged if others are getting through before you! We all learn at our own pace). The Skate 101 programme will teach you everything you need to know about how to skate derby-style. You'll also learn strategy and the rules of the game. Skate 101 is open to women aged 18+ at the time of graduation (12-16 weeks after the commencement of the course).

Become an official

DED welcomes new officials! There are two types of officials in roller derby: referees and Non-Skating Officials (NSOs). People of all ages can become officials.

Referees

If you're interested in becoming a referee you will need to know how to skate (or complete the skating skills portion of the Skate 101 programme). It is suggested that you spend 3-6 months as an NSO before you become a referee. 

NSOs

If wheels are too adventurous for you right now, you could always become an NSO. This is a great way to get an up-close view of the game and meet a great bunch of people.
